On the left as we leave the playground we can see the large communal kitchen and dining room (known as the Comedor). The children, workers and volunteers receive 3 hot meals a day plus 2 snacks at break times. As Casa Guatemala is isolated from mains services, all cooking is done using propane gas brought over from town in cylinders by boat. All the food which is not produced on the Casa Guatemala farm is transported in from Guatemala City by road and then boat. A total of 600 meals per day are served here.
